Who are YFC

Young Farmers Club (YFC) is a rural youth organisation, for anyone aged between 10 and 28 years old. Clubs and County Federations are affiliated to Wales and the National Federation of Young Farmers’ Clubs (NFYFC),

Members enjoy socialising and interacting with people of the same age; learning; achieving and having fun. Despite the name, you don’t need to be a farmer to join!

The clubs, like the County Federation, operate within a democratic committee structure. This provides opportunities for members to take on responsibility for the running of the clubs, looking after the interests of the members and be involved in decision-making within their club. At AGMs, members are elected into the club officer roles and are supported in these through training and leader guidance. There is also the opportunity to get involved in County, Wales and National roles.

Clubs organise their own programme for their regular meetings, with activities including sports, crafts, and skills development. With such a broad range, clubs ensure the interests of all members are catered for. Clubs’ activities are complemented by those organised by Pembrokeshire County YFC activities, such as competitions, and social/fundraising events. There’s also a number of competitions throughout the year, including public speaking, stock-judging and rural skills, giving members the opportunity to compete against others from the same County or Area and, if successful, competing at Wales and National level against YFC members from across England & Wales.

County Officials & Staff

 County Committees

Being a democratic organisation each club nominates representatives to sit on various committees that in turn are responsible for steering the movement forward and meeting the aims and objectives set. The main committee is the Executive Committee who oversee and adopt the suggestions from the other committees. The Competitions Committee discuss the competitions programme for the year and the Board of Management are responsible for budgeting staffing and ensuring our social events for the year are a success. We also have a hard working Rural Affairs Committee as well as an opportunity for the younger members to air their views in the Youth Forum. Our meetings are always held on a Wednesday Evening at Agriculture House.
