A good relationship is developing between Pembrokeshire YFC members and the NFYFC Competitions day in Stafford. Once again a large group of members, trainers and supporters went on tour to Stafford. Teams gave their all in competitions from Public Speaking to Dream Machines and mood boards, Frisbee, fencing and workshop skills.
Once again the results were fantastic with the Junior Public Speaking team of Joe Richards, Yori Evans and Mirain James trained by Katie Davies coming first with additional praise for Mirain James who secured the best speaker prize. Also, the Workshop skills Team of Caryl Bevan, Rhodri Vaughan, Rhys Bevan and Lawrence Hancock who came first with help from their trainers Hugh Bevan and Harold Warlow. In the Just a Minute Competition the Pembrokeshire team proved they have more than enough to say on all sorts of topics with Tomos Evans, Daniel Morgan, Emily Lloyd and Naomi Nicholas coming second under the guidance of their trainers Dill Williams and Karen Jones. Mace debating was the Challenge for the senior team and Pembrokeshire YFC represented club, county and country ably. Sam Kurtz, Tania Hancock, Josie Lewis a Christina Morgan proved their ability to debate for and against their topics placing second in the competition and Angharad Edwards proving that she can keep a cool and controlled grasp as chairman also part of the team and securing individual success as best overall chairman. Helping them on the road to success was their trainer Helen Hodges helped by Rhiannon James, Karen Jones and Peter Llewellin. Also in Stafford in a busy weekend for the county with the fencing team competing in baking heat to secure a 9th place finish and the Frisbee team competing on Sunday to secure a 5th place finish. Tom Bradbury also represented the county in the Dream Machines competition creating a mood board for an agricultural machine of his dreams.
